Best Buy!!!!

I wrote the numbers 1-7. For Target I through and crossed of 3 and 6 because if you buy 2 you get the 3rd CD free. All together Target charges $77.50. Best Buy charges 73.50. So Best Buy is the better deal. Also, you would save $4 if you went to Best Buy instead of Target.

(:*Sydney*:)

best buy!!!!!!!!!!!!

We found out what the prices of 1 pack was and found out what
the price of 7 CD`s is and got the total prices.

Best Buy~ $73.50

First, we did $15.50 x 5=$77.50 because you get 2 free and 5 paid for. Second- We took $10.50 x 7=$73.50 because none of them were free but it turned out to be the best buy!

Target has a Better deal !!

We did one hundred fifty times four and got six thousand two hundred.next we did one thousand fifty times seven and got seven thousand three hundred fifty.

73.50

We did $10.50 times 7 equals $73.50 for BestBuy.$15.50 times 5 because you get two free and it equals $77.50 at Target.

Abby&Misty

Best Buy

First we did $31.00 x 3 because if you buy two CDs you get one free and got $93.00. Then we did $10.50 x 7 and got $73.50. Next we did $93.00 - $73.50 and got $19.50. Therefore Best Buy is $19.50 cheaper than Target.

Nathan & Maya

Bestbuy...............................................................

First I timesed $10.50 times 7 equals $73.50 then I checked it
again and plused $10.50+10.50+10.50+10.50+10.50+10.50+10.50
=$73.50.

Chase and Chris

Best buy

What we did was multiyed 10.50 & 7 and got 73.50 after we did 15.50 & 5 got 77.50

Jake& Jennifer

Best buy 73.50

First we multiple 10.50/7=73.50 at Best Buy. Because Beca wanted 7 cds. At Target it was buy2 get 1 free. So we did 15.50/5=77.50. We got 5 , since we needed to get 2 than add another one per pair. Than we compared each one and the best buy was better.
Reace &Caitlin

Best Buy

We did $15.50 x 5 & got $77.50 at target since it was 2 C.D's for $15.50. Then we did $10.50 x 7 =73.50 at best Buy.

Bestbuy WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bestbuy was the winner.best buy got 73.50 and target got 1.50*7 times added up and got 73.50.Same thing with target except we took out 2 15.50`s.

Michael&ASHLEY

Problem for December 15

Becca wants a new Christmas CD. Target has a deal where you can buy two, get one free at $15.50 a CD. Best Buy has them on sale for $10.50 each. Becca wants 7 CDs, one for everyday of the week. Which store should she buy them at for the better deal and how much will she be paying for them?

268

we added 245,363,332,164,265,239,and got 1,608.then we divided it by 6 for 268 and got 4h for maximum 5N minimum. range 199.

Kaity and Brendan

268

What we did was took 245+ 360+332+164+265+239& got 1,608.
Then we took 1,608 dived by 6 & we got 268.
The maximum is a Mrs.Hendrix.
The minumum was Mrs.Nothern's.
The range was 199.

By:MorganE. & Jacob

268

They should find the total (1,608) and divide it by 6. The total was 268, and the range was 199, we got that because the maximum was 4-H the miniumum was 5-N.

Ashley Ingermanson And Katherine Shimp

268

We added all of the cans up.Then you divid it by 6 because there are 6 classes. The mean is 268.The maximum is 4-H becaues it is the biggest. The minimum is 5-n becaues it is the smallest. The range is 199 because we - the maximum -minimum.

Chase and M.K.

268

First we added 245+363+332=940 then we added 164+265+239=668 then we added 940+668=1,608 then we divid that by 6 and got 268.and how we got the range was we crossed out each number untell we got 332 and 164 we subtracted and got 168 for the range. For the least and the most and got 199.

Aneisha&Alicia.R

268

We added 245+363+332+164+265+239=1,608, then we divided 1,608 by 6 because there is 6 classes and got 268. Then for the minimum we got Mrs.Nothern because she only had 164. The maximum is Mrs.Hendrix because she had 363. The range is 199.

*(:Jessie and Sydney:)*

The mean answer268

The mean is268 beacause I (we really me) added all the number then divided them by how many numbers there were. The max. was 363 and the min.164.The range was 199 beacause we subtracted the big number with the little one. Abby,Michael karen

max.363 min.164 range199 mean 268

We added all them up and got one thousand six hundred eight .Then we divided it by six and got two hundred sixty eight . so we knew that was the mean . We saw that three hundred sixty three so that was the maximum . Then we saw that one hundred sixty was the minamum . Next we took the max. minus the min. and got the range

answers 268

We added and got 1608 which is Ethan's adress. Then we divided 6 and got 268.Then we found the maximum which is 4-H and minimum which is 5-N and subtracted them and got 199 for the Range.

Ethan & Misty

268

First we added 245+363+332+164+265+239=1608. Then we d id 1608/6=268 (because there were 6 classes). The maxamumi was hendrixss 363.The minimumi was Nothern 164.The range can be found when subrating the maxi and mumi. The range 199 .

Duey& Maya

268

1. We jotted down what class code/amount. Then added all that divided by 6=268.The minimum class is 5-N with 164. The maximum is in 4-H with 363. The difference (or the range) is 199.

268

We added the number of cans they had and got 1608. Then we divided it by 6 since there are 6 groups and got 268. The maximum is 4-h (363). The minimum is 5-n (164). The range is 199.We got that by subtracting the minimum by the maximum.

Question for December 8

Wow! You guys did an awesome job with your first math blog. Remember when you are commenting on other's work, you are only looking at how they solved the problem. Also, if you make a mistake and need to edit, make sure you ask me and I will show you how.

Anyway, on to this week's question....

Student Council held a canned food drive for the Salvation Army. Here are the results for the fourth and fifth grades:

Class/Amount of Cans Collected
4B/245
4H/363
4K/332
5N/164
5O/265
5R/239

Student Council wants to announce how many cans each class collected as one number. What steps should they take to divide up the cans evenly? (This is finiding the mean) Then what number will they report to the school? Which class had the maximium and which had the minimum? What is the difference between the largest class and the smallest class? (This is called finding the range.)

When you post, the answer to the class mean should be in the title, and the rest of the answers should appear in the body of the post. You may use the calculator tool on the computer to help you solve the problem!

$13.20

First we timesed $1.32 and 14 and got $18.48 then. We subtracted $1.32 4 times out of $18.48 and got $13.20.

aneisha and christopher

1320

First we did 132 x14 =1,848. We put in the decimal and got $18.48. Then we counted
all the threes in 14. So we did 5 x 132=6.60. We did 18.48-11.88 and we added 132 to
are answer wich is 13.20.

Jacob,and Mary Kate

$13.20

We multiplyed 132 times 2 because if you buy 2 sodas and you get 1 for free. Then we multiplied 264 times 5 because3 times 5 is 15 which is 1 more then she needs, so the $13.20.

Nathan & Kaity

13.20

I did one dallor thirtytwo cents times fourteen and got eightteen dallors fourty eight cents.minus five dallors nineteen cents and g0t thirteen dallers twenty cents. Josh karen

13.20

I did one dallor thirtytwo cents times fourteen and got eightteen dallors fourty eight cents.minus five dallors nineteen cents and g0t thirteen dallers twenty cents. Josh karen

$13.20

We did 14 tally marks, counted the 3rd ones and crossed them out. Next we counted all the ones that weren't crossed out and did $1.32 10 times because 1 bottle costs $1.32 and got $13.20.

Misty And Katherine!!!

13.20

First we took $1.32+$1.32=$2.64 and that equaled three bottles of soda. Next we took $2.64+$2.64 and got $5.28 which equaled six bottles of soda. Then we took $5.28+$2.64 and got $7.92 which was nine bottles of soda. After wards we took $7.92 +$2.64 and got $10.56 which was 12 bottles of soda.Last we took $10.56 + $2.64 and got $13.20 which was 15 bottles of soda. By Morgan E. &Chase

$13.20

We knew we needed to write $1.32 10 times because, if we buy 2 we get 1 free, so we added $1.32 10 times and got $13.20

13.20 or 12.88

I did 2's on my finger and got 10 on one hand then added the three other bottles and got 1 leftover.First we took 0x2 then 0x3 then 0x1 and got 000 then we dropped the 0 and did 1x2 then 1x3 then 1x1 and it was 13.20 then we added the 2 numbers together and got $13.20 with 1 leftover or 13.20-1.32=12.88

3athon and Alicia R

13.32

I first wrote1.32 14 times. Then crossed out every third 1.32.Added it up and BINGO!(The answer).

Michael&Reace

$13.20

First we did $1.32 times 14=$18.48.Then we counted that there was 4 free sodas so we did $1.32 times 4=$5.28.After that we did $18.48-$5.28=$13.20.

By Maya & Jennifer

$13.20

First we put them in pairs of 2. Then added 1 to each pair ( there are 8 pairs). Then we added 1.32 8 times and received 10.56. So we knew that was not the right answer. So then we added another 2 and added in the extra. So the right answer is 13.20

Duey & Abby

$13.20

We wrote the numbers 1-14 and then counted 3 and every 3rd number we crossed off. There was 10 soda bottles left she has to buy. So then we did $1.32x10=$13.20. Our answer is $13.20.

Sydney & Ashley

$13.20

  1. We jotted down 14-bottles of pop. (For a small reminder)
  2. Then we both counted our fingers by: 1 finger= 2 bottles of pop. We ended up with 5 fingers+4 pops free.
  3. We took $1.32x2=$2.64.
  4. Last we took $2.64x5=$13.20 + our 4 free pops.
